“Every job runs on a written scope: tear-off down to the deck where the wood is soft, then synthetic underlayment and an ice-and-water shield along the eaves and valleys. We set a drip edge, replace soft fascia or soffit boards, and keep ventilation moving from the soffit vents to a ridge vent instead of an attic fan that fights the intake. Under the sheathing we check rafters, joists, and any purlin or batten for decay, since a truss or ridge beam that has moved shows up as a sagging ridgeline. We lay the field course in staggered courses with ring-shank nails, re-nail the ridge cap, and reseal the pipe boots, apron flashing, and counter-flashing we disturb. Hip, gable, rake, and verge edges get the same look, along with every skylight, dormer, chimney, and parapet wall, because that is where water gets in.
